I’m also damn pleased about the cost of iPad. Apple seems to have done great targeting with the right price again.

I’m disappointed to find out that the i-pad won’t be supporting Adobe Flash. Half the web is using Flash video (flv’s if not swf’s)
    thumbs down…

Why Apple won’t support Adobe Flash is that – as Steve Jobs said – on the Mac platform (which includes, in this case, Mac OS X and İPhone OS and the future iPad OS or the iOS) Flash is a buggy, slow, memory-hog. HTML 5, according to Apple, is the new trend which is fully supported by Apple, even today.

Here’s an excerpt of an article on wired.com also mentioned by Macrumors:

Steve Jobs held a town hall meeting with Apple employees late last week following the iPad launch. Wired reports on what was said at the meeting by Steve Jobs. Two of the biggest topics included Google and Adobe.

On Google, Jobs confirms the much-reported competition between the two companies.
On Google: We did not enter the search business, Jobs said. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them, he says.

As for Adobe, Jobs said they are lazy and Jobs blames Adobe for a buggy implementation of Flash on the Mac as one of the reasons they won’t support it.
Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy, he says. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash. No one will be using Flash, he says. The world is moving to HTML5.

how come the i-phone is capable of playing youtube videos which should also be the case of the i pad? aren’t the youtube vids in flash video format anyway? why that exception?

YouTube supports both Flash video and HTML 5 at the same time. So whenever you connect to YouTube with your iPhone or your iPad, the videos there will play thanks to HTML5 capability of Safari mobile browser.

I strongly disagree with the opinion that the i Pad will be a disappointment. Apple already announced the i-pad-version of its iwork productivity suite, followed by the omnigroup which make some great time-maangement and flowcharting apps. This also gives me reason to believe that filemaker would soon come up with Bento for the ipad – so a super tablet computer with a variety of cool easy-to-use 3rd party software with the addition of pro business applications from project planners to database applications for the ipad and all generating Mac-compatible documents.
