CHM dosyalarını Mac’de okumak için 5 Program
07/27/2009Compiled HTML (derlenmiş HTML) kısaltması olarak isimlendirilmiş olan .chm uzantısı Microsoft Windows tarafından yardım dosyaları, yaılım dokümantasyonu, e-dergiler ve e-kitaplar (eBook) için kullanılmakta.
CHM formatında Mac’le ilgili de birçok eKitap bulunmakta, bununla beraber Mac OS X kendi üzerinde yerleşik bir .chm görüntüleyici/okuyucu bir program bulundurmuyor.
Ancak Mac için birkaç 3. parti CHM okuyucu uygulama yazılımı mevcut, ve bunlardan bazıları tamamen ücretsiz:
Chmox

xCHM platformlar arası (cross-platform) grafik kullanıcı arayüzlü bir program. Alt seviye programcıların anlayacağı bir-iki teknik detay: Pabs’ın chmdeco projesinden alıntılarla Chmlib kütüphanesi kullanıyor.
xCHM ilk olarak UNIX sistemler (Linux, BSD, Solaris) için yazılmış, daha sonra Mac OS X ve Windows versiyonları çıkarılmış. xCHM içinde içerik ağacı olan dokümanlarda ‘Explorer-vari’ bir ağaç yapısı görünütüleme, sayfaları kağıda dökme (print alma), font ve yazı puntolarını değiştirme, sayfa imleri ekleme ve kaydetme, arama yapılabilir bir indeks çıkartma, ve bir sayfada ya da tüm dokümanda kelime arama özelliklerine sahip.
Lisans: Shareware (Programın yazarının artık Mac almaya parası yetmediği için Mac geliştirmelerine ara vermiş ve programın kaynak kodunun Mac versiyonunu da web sitesinden kaldırmış. Bağış yapanlar olursa ve 800 Euro toparlarsa bir Mac alacağını ve Mac versiyonunu desteklemeye devam edeceğini belirtmiş)
Chimp
Chimp ortalıkta (Internet’i kastetmiş 
gezinen CHM dosyalarını açıp görüntülemeye yarayan başka bir program. Chimp bu formattaki dokümanları Mac OS X’den bekleyeceğiniz bir zerafetle açıp okumanıza olanak tanıyor. Yukarıda diğer programlarda bahsedilen tüm özellikler bunda da mevcut.

- Tüm doküman çapında arama yapabilme
- Yaızıcıdan çıktı alma
- Düzenlenebilir yer imleri yani sayfa işaretleri (bookmarks)

iChm
iChm de bir başka CHM (Microsoft Compiled HTML Help) formatındaki e-kitapları veya yardım dosyalarını okumanızı sağlayan bir araç.

- Tamamen Cocoa framework’e dayalı olması. Çirkin pencereler ve yavaş yenilenen ekran sorunu yok.
- Sekmeli gezinme / okuma özelliği var
- Arama. Sonuçlar alaka derecesine göre sıralanıyor.

Tubby CHM dosyalarını Stuffit gibi bir klasörün içine ayrı ayrı belgeler halinde atan bir program. Kombine HTML yardım dosyalarını (chm) her sayfa ayrı bir dosya olacak şekilde aynı isimde bir klasör içine çıkartıyor.

@hossen, try “Chm View for Mac” ( http://www.enolsoft.com/chm-view-for-mac.html ) – it’s exclusively available for download from the Mac App Store, Lion-compatible, allows selecting, copying text and printing with a search engine.

I think i tried almost all CHM viewer available and non of them support highlighting. iChm and Chm view support copying text and printing only
The only Chm reader that has highlighting feature is Chmate and unfortunately it does not work on Mac but it does work on IOS
@hossen, I think the problem’s either with your system or you’re using a very old version of the application, or maybe it’s the chm file (locked for highlighting or something). I tested both iChm and the Chm view, they work just fine, allow highlighting, copying text, etc.
I think you should update the article to reflect the addition of Chm View for Mac (and OS X Lion compatible, also which might be the best CHM reader on the mac out there and it’s free!) http://www.enolsoft.com/chm-view-for-mac.html and also available for download from the Apple’s Mac App Store for free.
Chmox has never been even not long before this article came out. Chimp which relies on Rosetta (I think it still has some ancient Mac OS Carbon code – never blessed with the touch of Mac OS X Cocoa framework) is orphaned (author’s web site seems dead).
iChm has a newer Mac OS X lion compatible version.

What about a CHM reader for the iphone and the ipad? ibooks is great for reading ebooks in epub and pdf format, but I have a lot of ebooks in chm format which I want to open and view on ios
